Former Power Rangers Star Ricardo Medina Jr. Charged in Murder of Roommate - People Magazine

Former Power Rangers Samurai star Ricardo Medina Jr. was arrested Thursday and charged with murder for allegedly stabbing his roommate to death with a sword in 2015.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced it is charging Medina, 36, with one count of murder for allegedly fatally stabbing Josh Sutter at the house the two shared in Green Valley on Jan. 31, 2015.

The men allegedly were arguing about Medina’s girlfriend when the argument turned physical. Medina is accused of stabbing his roommate multiple times with a sword, after which the actor called the police, and first responders took Sutter to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors are asking his bail be set at $1 million and he is set to appear in court Tuesday.

Medina was initially arrested after the death of Sutter, but was released Feb. 3 as the District Attorney’s Office did not feel there was enough evidence to charge him at the time. It asked law enforcement to continue to investigate.

“I want to say I am very, very, very sorry for what occurred,” Medina told the media after his release in February. “I’m very happy to be out of jail and my heart goes out to the Sutter family. Thank you.”

The actor’s attorney said at the time that Medina acted in self-defense.

Medina is known for playing the Red Ranger on Power Rangers Wild Force starting in in 2002. He later played Deker on Power Rangers Samurai.
